It was a beautiful morning for a race, even though I had to wake up at 4 a.m. to get to the start on time. Right before the start they announced that Sea World was bringing a rehabilitated sea turtle that they were going to release back into the wild. I was so excited to have the opportunity to see this, considering this is one of those once in a lifetime moments. The race was fun, we pretty much just caught up on what has been going on in our lives. It was a pretty big race, I heard around 2,800 runners, from elite runners to walkers, so no one felt left out. They also had volunteers with funny signs which always makes you smile and forget about the pain. After the finish line they had sponsor tents and lots of yummy food to refuel with. They even had vegan muffins, now that's a first!
After we walked around for a bit, we went down to the beach to make sure we got a good spot for the sea turtle release. It was truly one of the most magical things I have ever experienced and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. If any of you live in FL, I strongly suggest running this awesome race!
She was a beauty and I'm so glad she got to go home! :)
